PAUL JEFFREY DAVIDS - BIO - 2023

Filmmaker and artist Paul Jeffrey Davids is from Bethesda, Maryland, and has a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University and an MA equivalent in writing and directing from the American Film Institute Center for Advanced Film Studies. He has been creating paintings, drawings and pastels since receiving private instruction as a child and enrolling in an oil painting class at the University of Vermont. After writing, producing and directing a feature film about Vincent van Gogh (“Starry Night,” NBCUniversal International TV 1999) he embarked on a large body of work as an artist that includes hundreds of remarkable paintings in a colorful neo-Impressionist genre with his own original style with bold and vibrant brushwork. His paintings depict his many travels and life experiences with fascinating people and memorable places as well as some excursions into fantasy.

There are seven coffee-table sized books of his art available at Blurb.com all under the title of “The Art of Paul Jeffrey Davids” including volumes on New York and Paris, Mexico, the California Coast, the Southwest, Forests and Flowers, and a book of paintings from 2009 – 2020, as well as one co-authored with Russell Metzger called “Blue Jeans and Oil” about their co-created multi-media art pieces which have been displayed at the Ritz in Laguna Niguel, CA.

He became famous in the 1980’s as the production coordinator for Marvel Productions of 79 animated TV episodes of the original “Transformers” as well as a writer of episode scripts. In the 1990’s Lucasfilm hired Paul and his wife, Hollace Davids, to write 6 sequel novels for the “Star Wars” universe, including “The Glove of Darth Vader,” “The Lost City of the Jedi,” “Zorba the Hutt’s Revenge,” “Mission from Mount Yoda,” “Queen of the Empire” and “Prophets of the Dark Side.” The books sold millions of copies worldwide in many languages.

A 1994 dramatic film he executive produced and co-wrote for Showtime (“Roswell” a.k.a. “Roswell: The UFO Coverup”) starring Kyle MacLachlan, Dwight Yoakam and Martin Sheen is now a classic of the UFO film genre, with many of its aspects about the reality of UFO’s now being officially confirmed after decades of official denial. The film was nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Motion Picture for Television (1994).

Paul’s many feature films about controversial topics have led to dozens of interviews, most notably with Art Bell and George Noory on the popular radio show “Coast to Coast AM.” There he has delved into details about his films including “Jesus in India,” “Timothy Leary’s Dead,” “The Life After Death Project,” “Roswell,” “The Sci-Fi Boys” and “Marilyn Monroe Declassified.” His talk on evidence for life after death at Toronto’s Ideacity Conference can be found online.
